There once was a Farmer who had a vine
And he tended that vine all the time
And when he had to prune the branches back
This is what the vine had to say about that:
He said, “Farmer, don’t you know that it hurts me so
When you cut me back as I start to grow?”
But the Farmer just smiled saying, “Wait and see
How fruitful you will be
How fruitful you will be.”

‘Cause the Farmer, he loved that vine
He loved that vine,
He loved, he loved that vine.

There once was a Carpenter who built a house
And he wanted it sturdy from the roof to the ground
So he sanded and he soldered and he hammered all day
Sometimes he’d hear that house complain:

“Oh, Carpenter you know that it makes me sore
When your nails go through my two by fours.”
But the Carpenter smiled, saying, “Wait and see
The mansion you will be
The mansion you will be.”

‘Cause the Carpenter loved that house
He loved that house
He loved, he loved that house.

There once was a Father who had a son
And he loved that son more than anyone
So he made him eat his vegetables and toe the line
And sometimes the little boy inquired,
“Oh Daddy if you love me just as much as you say
Why can’t I always have my way?”
But the Father just smiled saying, “Wait and see
The man you’ll grow to be
The man you’ll grow to be.”

‘Cause the Father, he loved his son
He loved his son
He loved, he loved his son.

There once was a Farmer who had a vine …
