Kaleidoscope

by Jeanette Shackleton April 23, 2005

Have you ever had the experience of being out on a limb,
Of having no one to trust in, no one at all, but Him?

He created the limb you hang from, and the tree from which it grows.
He created you in the first place and planned for the limb to grow.

My life forms a kaleidoscope picture, with bright colored pieces arranged.
All at once—when least expected—the scope’s position is changed.

My whole world is tumbling in pieces! Who knows where the pieces will fall?
But, if I just wait till they settle, it won’t be so bad after all.

A lovely new view I’ll be seeing in the kaleidoscope!
All I have to do, when in turmoil, is to hang on to faith and hope.

That faith will be honored in God’s time. Rewarded will be my hope.
For God, the Creator of all things, has also created hope!

So, climb out on the limb in your own life and let the kaleidoscope spin!
Don’t be afraid to be tossed topsy-turvy as long as it’s God’s hand you’re in.

Every time your kaleidoscope tumbles, a lovely new picture you’ll see.
Since God’s the creator of beauty, who knows what one day you will see!
